A Mowing Moment and Why It Is Important

This weekend our two-year-old grandson was over. He saw me start to mow, so I let him help, thinking, “Oh, he’ll get bored.” Nope. He just wanted to mow with his PC. While he moved at a much slower pace and I was much more hunched over because he wanted to control the direction, I gave in and had a blast!

So, besides me being a great PC, why does that matter?

Because at 2 years old, he learned:

The Power of seeing a Finished Product

The Power of Rhythms (keeping straight lines)

The Power of Boundaries (mowing the sidewalk wastes time and energy)

The Power of Controls

The Power of Danger (when you don't pay attention)

We waste tons of valuable learning time with those we think aren’t ready. Usually it’s because we're not in tune or ready. For some real fun, sometime I’ll post a video of me teaching him improv. If he says something offensive, he learned that from his dad, not his PC!

And yes, I need to kill more weeds.
